About Windows Printer Drivers for the CF1000, PLUS, and PLUS SE
There is seldom a need for a printer specific driver to be bundled with our printers. Most of our CF1000, CF1000 PLUS, and CF1000 PLUS SE Continuous Form Laser Printers are used for printing labels designed with Tharo Systems' EASYLABEL® software or for generating 11" forms or reports from a variety of programs. In either case, the end user does not need another driver, or already has it.
Tharo Systems' EASYLABEL software has built-in multi-platform drivers specifically designed to support our printers. Instead of installing a printer driver, the user goes to Settings, Printer Configuration, and in the drop down menus, simply selects Synergystex as the manufacturer, and the CF1000/CF1000 PLUS as the model. When completing a format specification screen, the same choice would be made to address the Printer Model question. Once saved, that specific format could be printed without the use of an external driver.
For those people who print on 11" paper from other software, the solution is equally easy. Since all of our printers have emulated Hewlett Packard LaserJet® printers, and have always been PCL® 4, 5, or 5e compatible, most users choose an HP driver from their Windows CD, or download an updated one from the Internet. The default page length on all of our models is 11", so the only adjustment typically necessary is to change the driver's default dots per inch setting to 300 instead of 600.
Depending on which model is in use, there are also several different ways to change or set page length from the front panel of the printer. Please direct any driver questions or requests to support@synergystex.com or telephone 330-225-3112.
For Legacy Systems -- CF1000 with Windows 3.xx or 9.x
The Synergystex CF1000 Windows Printer Driver, written for us by Tharo Systems, Inc., offers two significant benefits. It allows a CF1000 user to define odd length "pages" rather than common cut-sheet sized pages, and it offers a means to print bar codes from popular word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
By accessing the variable forms control functionality in the CF1000, the driver allows the user to set the "page length" or "vertical separation" on the document, form, label, etc. to a setting that would not normally be an option when using most software packages. The user can choose any length from 1˝ to 33 inches, in sixths or eighths of an inch, depending on the application software being used.
Real world application examples include the printing of mail merge 4 x 6 inch postcards where the text information comes from the word processing software while the names and addresses are printed directly on the flip side from a database program. And where a labeling program such as Tharo's EASYLABEL® may be overkill for simple or infrequent jobs, the driver allows for the use of commonly owned or existing software.
When using programs such as MS Word, Excel, Access, Works, etc., the user may also select bar code symbologies that may be added to the font list along with text fonts. The bar code fonts may be selected based on symbology, wide-to-narrow ratio if appropriate, and narrow element size. Once selected, the bar code height may be scaled as are text fonts. The use of human readable interpretation may be toggled on/off. Since "paint programs" do not typically support printer fonts, software such as CorelDraw will not allow the use of bar codes.
The driver is available via email. Please contact us regarding your requirements.
Notes: This printer driver works under Windows 9x, but not with Windows NT, 2000, or XP. Please contact us with driver questions support@synergystex.com concerning both the CF1000 and the CF1000 PLUS.
This driver should not be used with Tharo's EASYLABEL for Windows software because EASYLABEL specifically supports our printers with built-in multi-platform drivers having far more power and functionality than this driver brings to the above mentioned program types.
